An employee who displayed Soviet symbols in a Vilnius hospital was punished, a member of the Seimas: they don’t care

“The worshiper of Soviet symbolism is punished!”

A month ago, I shared the news regarding a Russian-speaking vatnik who, dressed in a new scarf with the main emblem of the Soviet Union – hammer and sickle – and other Soviet symbols, proudly entered the hospital premises and slowly walked past the patients standing in line, showing off his outfit. I immediately contacted the hospital administration and the police.

I also received an answer from the police – the offender was fined 150 EUR. Although individuals are punished for the use of Soviet symbols, such actors who brazenly demonstrate the status of “big brother” who forgot that they have been living in independent Lithuania for thirty-four years, this is not the case,” Seimas member A. Jakavonytė wrote on Facebook.

The MP recorded this man at the end of January, accompanying a close person to the hospital. As he said, the person looked like a hospital employee, because he talked with other employees and went to the service rooms.

According to A. Jakavonytė, the police representative informed her that in 2023, 430 administrative trials were initiated in Lithuania in accordance with Article 524 of the Civil Code. because of forbidden symbolism.

“This is a signal and a reminder to all those lost in time that Lithuania is an independent state, and the Soviet occupiers have been expelled from Lithuania a long time ago.

And those who still dream regarding the Soviet times or would even like Lithuania to be trampled by Soviet chebats, we encourage them to pack their suitcases!” – wrote A. Jakavonytė.
