On the occasion of a European event organized in Barcelona, and two days following the launches of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, it is Huawei’s turn to unveil its new connected watch, the Huawei Watch GT 4.

A watch in two formats

In the purest tradition of Huawei watches, this new watch focuses above all on elegance with several variations of bracelets, colors and formats. Unlike the Huawei Watch GT 3, which is simply available in two sizes, the two versions of the Huawei Watch GT 4 adopt more distinctive features. Thus, the large format model, in 46 mm with a 22 mm bracelet, offers a fairly classic watch format with a fixed bezel around the 1.43 inch screen and horns extending the slightly octagonal format of the case.

It also benefits from a 1.43-inch diameter Oled screen with a definition of 466 x 466 pixels and a density of 326 pixels per inch for battery life of up to 14 days.

For its part, the Huawei Watch GT 4 in the 41 mm version is much smaller with a narrower horn system, for 18 mm bracelets and a 1.32 inch screen of 466 x 466 pixels with a density of 352 pixels per inch. The watch thus follows more the codes of traditional watchmaking for smaller wrists. However, it is limited to an autonomy of up to seven days of use.

In addition to the screen of the Huawei Watch GT 4, the watch obviously benefits from a heart rate sensor – in TruSeen 5.5+ version – and sleep monitoring algorithms – TruSleep 3.0. During the night, the watch will be able to monitor both breathing and heart rate variability to assess the effectiveness of rest. Like previous models, the watch also benefits from a skin temperature sensor used here to warn of future periods.

Complete monitoring of sports activity

Concerning sporting activity, the Huawei Watch GT 4 can monitor more than a hundred sports including football, paddle, outdoor running, indoor cycling or rowing. It also benefits from multi-GNSS and multi-band GPS. On geolocation, Huawei also indicates that it has improved its technology with an adjustment of the antenna in beam formation depending on the orientation of the wrist. The watch will also allow you to automatically export your training data to Strava, Komoot or Adidas Runtastic.

Features also include the ability to answer calls from the wrist using the built-in microphone and speaker, or pre-programmed responses to received messages. Remember, however, that Huawei’s application store is still very weak and that few relevant applications are compatible. The watch will also not allow you to record an electrocardiogram, unlike the Huawei Watch Ultimate.

The Huawei Watch GT 4 46 mm is available with a black silicone, steel, brown leather or green nylon strap. The 41 mm model is available in white leather, Milanese or bi-metal gold and steel model.

The Huawei watch will be available from 249 euros.
