An Egyptian-Turkish meeting at the United Nations headquarters

The two ministers expressed satisfaction with the progress witnessed by bilateral relations during the recent period in light of the visit of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Turkey in September 2024 and the signing of the joint declaration for the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Committee, as well as the visit of Turkish President Erdogan to Egypt last February.

They affirmed their aspiration to continue working to advance economic and investment relations, bring the volume of trade exchange between the two sides to $15 billion, increase tourism activity, and enhance joint cooperation in various fields in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries and peoples.

During the meeting, they also discussed the dangerous developments in the Middle East in light of the escalation of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon and the continued aggression against the Palestinian people. The two ministers agreed on the necessity of achieving an immediate, comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, avoiding the region from sliding into a regional war, and the importance of the international community assuming its responsibilities to contain this dangerous escalation.

During the meeting, visions were exchanged on a number of issues and crises that the region is going through in Sudan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, and the Red Sea, as well as developments in the Horn of Africa region.

The two ministers agreed to continue coordination and cooperation regarding various issues of common interest on the regional and international arenas.
