The British Conservative Party has appointed Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Mansour, the former Minister of Transport, to be a major fundraiser ahead of the upcoming elections, according to the British Guardian newspaper.

A report by the British newspaper stated that the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, announced that Muhammad Mansour will be the first treasurer of the Conservative Party at a reception for a group of donors last Monday evening.

According to the newspaper, Mansour Unatrac donated more than 600,000 pounds for the ceremony, and last year he was given a role on the government’s investment advisory board, as founder of his family’s investment company Man Capital.

Mohamed Mansour held the position of Minister of Transport from 2006 to 2009 in the government of former President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak.

According to the newspaper, the Conservative Party has repeatedly refused to confirm Mansour’s role, however, party sources have confirmed that he has a separate role as the supreme treasurer, a job that will include fundraising in the run-up to the next general elections.

The role of Tory treasurer has proven controversial in recent years, with nine of them going on to receive peerages, according to the Guardian.

Confirming his appointment, Mansoor said: It is a great honor and privilege to be appointed Treasurer of the Conservative Party and a member of the party’s treasurer team.

On the other hand, the Conservative Party did not comment on the newspaper’s report.

Mohamed Mansour oversees the massive Mansour family group, which was founded by his father, Lotfi Mansour, in 1952 and has 60,000 employees.

Mansour established General Motors agencies in Egypt in 1975; To become one of the largest distributors of its cars in the world.
