An economic expert talks about his expectations for prices in Egypt after getting rid of the black market

Egypt – An Egyptian economist considered that meat prices in Egypt will decline significantly during the coming period, explaining that their decline will take some time until they return to what they were before.

Ahmed Galal, an economist and former dean of agriculture at Ain Shams University in Cairo, said during statements to the “Sada El Balad” news website, “Prices will decrease significantly during the coming period, regarding a month from now, but it will take some time until they return to what they were.”

He stressed that “during the coming period, we will witness a decrease in meat prices, which will reach 270 pounds per kilo.”

The expert stressed, “Citizens must search for places that sell at reduced prices and respond to the reduction initiative,” noting that “Egypt has completely gotten rid of the black market, and the dollar is available in all banks.”

He added, “Poultry prices fell by more than 17 pounds per kilo, confirming what we noted before the end of Ramadan 2024.”

He added: “The prices of poultry and eggs will decrease once more, a significant decrease that will be felt by the citizen as a result of the decrease in feed prices, as expectations indicate a decline in the prices of these basic elements of poultry production.”

Jalal expected “the price of a kilo of poultry to drop to 78 pounds per citizen in the next few days,” pointing out that “the state is working hard to reduce all basic commodities, which is what all citizens have felt in the current period, a sharp decline in a large number of strategic commodities.”
