AN Commission evaluates reforming the Law on the Practice of Dentistry

The Permanent Commission on Education, Health, Science, Technology and Innovation of the National Assembly (AN) evaluates a reform or a new Law for the Practice of Dentistry in Venezuela.

As it became known, the Commission held a meeting with the president of the College of Dentists of Venezuela, Pablo Quintero, who made the request to the parliamentarians.

Deputy Ricardo Sánchez, president of the Commission, reported that this initiative will be evaluated by the Health Subcommittee to offer a timely response to dentists.

“We are encouraged by the review of the Law on the Practice of Dentistry, so that the right to oral health is consolidated,” said Sánchez.

In this sense, he said that the effort made by the National Government in this matter, such as the Smile Mission, will be reinvigorated.

Commission might update 1970 regulations

For his part, the president of the College of Dentists of Venezuela, Pablo Quintero, explained that the Bill will allow updating the practice of dentistry.

Given the new realities since the current norm dates from 1970, which he described as anachronistic.

This with respect to what is established in the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela.

“This initiative seeks the integrality of the practice of dentistry so that it covers all the areas that the exercise of this specialty is responsible for,” he said.

For what he referred to research, teaching, service, science technology, and progress in union activity.
