The Palp Festival wins the 2022 Mountain Prize, endowed with 40,000 francs. The Valais event is distinguished both for its festival and for its “Palp Village”, located in Bruson.
With concerts, exhibitions and culinary events, the team of 14 people around Sébastien Olesen revives the traditions and cultural heritage of mountain regions, the organizers of the Prix Montagne said in a press release on Tuesday. The Palp Festival attracts 35,000 visitors each year to various locations in Lower Valais.
The “Palp Village”, located in Bruson in the Val de Bagnes, aims to create a cultural and tourist center in collaboration with the local population.
For former skier and jury president Bernhard Russi, the Palp “can really serve as a model for other initiatives. The Swiss mountain world is full of traditions that can be valued in similar projects and undertakings”.
