An award for the first QD-OLED monitor

What is the price of the first QD-OLED PC screen? Dell Alienware announces the color: 3 times the price of a similar monitor.

the QD OLED was known since 2019 by specialists in the field, there are now two products planned for this year. Sony introduced a QD-OLED TV, the Master Series A95K. And there is an ultra-wide monitor by Dell Alienware. It is the latter that interests us, it now has an introductory price in the United States.

As a reminder, Dell and Samsung Display made a joint announcement at CES 2022. They announced the first QD-OLED monitor. This screen is curved (1800R), it is 34 inches diagonally and displays a UWQHD definition (3440 x 1440 pixels), with a native refresh rate of 175 Hz and a latency of 0.1 ms.

Dell promises 99% of the DCI-P3 color space, but also a DisplayHDR 400 True Black certification (peak brightness of 400 cd / m²). We also have AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync support.

3 times more expensive than a similar PC screen

Dell Alienware has just announced its price in the United States: 1,299 dollars excluding VAT, or 1,160 euros excluding VAT. The official price in France has not been mentioned, but the American price allows you to realize that it is a screen far from cheap. This is the case of Millenium MD34 Pro, Samsung Odyssey G5 but also Xiaomi Mi Curved Gaming Moniteur 34.

As a reminder, QD-OLED offers undeniable qualities compared to other technologies that we usually come across on PC screens. On the program: unlimited contrast, theoretically better color space coverage than LG OLED and peak brightness beyond 1000 nits.
