It is not with the ROG Strix XG27UQR that the market for 4K gaming monitors will become more accessible, the prices charged being still significantly higher than that of QHD screens. On the other hand, Asus offers a good alternative to the models currently found in stores. Compromises, there are, we think for example of the absence of HDMI 2.1, speakers, PIP / PBP mode, or the ELMB-Sync which is felt compared to the TUF VG28. And then of course there’s this design which is certainly neat, but whose aesthetic contrasts clearly compared to other screens in our selection.
The performances are honorable, as is the image quality with great richness of colors and fluidity without (too) flaws. Only the HDR performance leaves us unsatisfied: the ROG Strix XG27UQR does not have the necessary assets to offer HDR rendering worthy of the name. The choice is ultimately delicate between this model and a TUF VG28, the current price difference encourages us to recommend the latter, unless price reductions are still observed on this XG27UQR, in which case it might become one of the best contenders. to play in 4K at 144 Hz on PC!
