An ‘attention’ for this movie; Review | Attention Please Review

Today we live in a society where there are many factors that stifle the freedom of expression of an artist or writer. The film ‘Attention Please’ shares some of the problems faced by a young storyteller and his friends who are trying to make it to the cinema. Writers have also been seen trapped in various constraints and unable to capture a new idea that arises in their mind. The movie ‘Attention Please’ enters into its tension when a young man named Hari, living in a society that shackles expression with the word political correctness, wants to break the iron chains and knots that bind his consciousness. Progressing through Harry, telling his stories to his friends, the film will create a little spark in the viewer’s thoughts as it approaches its climax.

This is a film that shows that the vast world of cinema is not only for the few, it is accessible to the common man if he approaches it with clear and proper study and preparation. Yes, the film ‘Attention Please’ is in a way a story of scams and frauds in the name of caste, color and preconceptions. Some people we know, some things they hesitate to say, some lives we don’t try to know, all these are put together and told in a small picture. It would not be wrong to say that they are a slightly exaggerated version of everything.

Karthik Subbaraj, one of the leading young directors in Tamil, is making his debut in Malayalam cinema through his production company ‘Stone Benchersy’ with ‘Attention Please’. The film is written and directed by Jitin Isaac Thomas. It can be said that the screenplay is one of the main factors that motivates Karthik Subbaraj to bring him to Malayalam as a producer. Perfect restraint and moderation has been observed in the matter of expression as well.

The film shares the pain of a writer and some of the pains he has to face from the society when he becomes an authority. The pain of the storyteller, who tells a ‘story’ that gives a blow to the Malayali’s sense of morality, which creeps into human privacy in public places, is presented in a thrilling mood in the film. The film shares the politics within it without leaking the entertainment elements at all.

The highlight of the film is the performance of Vishnu Govind as Hari. His mannerisms and dialogue delivery keep the audience glued to the screen for a moment. Other actors are Jiki Paul, Jobin Paul, Athira Kallingal, Sreejith Babu and Anand Manmathan. It is safe to say that everyone in this movie has handled their role very well.

It cannot be said that it is a completely flawless movie. However, Attention Please is a film made with a few good attempts to forget those crimes. A content that can amaze the audience, through which some political injustice and some kind of politics that everyone can understand through a powerful language is shared, the director presents to the audience with his first film an impression of watching a good movie.

Jitin and his team have prepared for us with this film such technical perfection that it is impossible to say that it is a small film. They deserve a round of applause for that one thought and for putting 100 percent effort into capturing it on screen. Arun Vijay has composed the music for the film. Edited by Rohit Wariat, the camera is handled by Himal Mohan. Karthik Subbaraj is part of the production of ‘Attention Please’ through the production house Stone Bench Films and Originals. This young film, which performed well in all fields, was screened at this year’s IFFK in the Cinema of Today category and won critical acclaim. Yes, ‘Attention Please’ will definitely grab your attention for two hours.
