Cairo Film Festival awards Ahmed Ezz the Faten Hamama Award for Excellence

The Cairo International Film Festival decided to award the artist Ahmed Ezz the “Faten Hamama Award for Excellence”, during the activities of its 45th session, to be held from 15 to 24 November next, in appreciation of what he presented throughout his artistic career that began since the end of the nineties of the century. the past.

The artist, Hussein Fahmy, head of the Cairo Film Festival, commented on the honoring decision in a statement to the festival on Sunday, saying: “The artist Ahmed Ezz will receive the (Faten Hamama Award), as he is a distinguished artist who has presented many good works, and we are interested in the Cairo Festival to encourage artists who have provided a lot to Egyptian cinema.” We are happy to honor him and wish him success in what is to come.”

The artist, Ahmed Ezz, studied English at the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University, then worked in the hotel field, following which he moved to fashion shows, and his interest in cinema began at a later stage, as his roles began to attract attention in films such as “Honor” by Sherif Shaaban, and “Kalam al-Layl” directed by Enas El-Degheidy.

But those roles did not satisfy his cinematic passion, until the real beginning came through the movie “Teenage Diaries” by director Enas Al-Degheidy in 2001, and it sparked strong waves of controversy at the time of its presentation, but on the other hand, it guaranteed Ahmed Ezz the appearance he needed to make his way following that through A number of successful works, and in 2004 he presented 4 cinematic films, the most important of which is “Love for Girls” by director Khaled Al-Hajar, and for his role in it he won the award for Best Actor in a Second Role from the Tenth National Festival of Egyptian Cinema, as well as “First Year of Monument” with director Kamela Abu Zekry, And “Day of Dignity” with director Ali Abdel-Khaleq.

And Ahmed Ezz embarked on the absolute starring roles, and he presented the movie “My Angel of Alexandria” in 2005 with director Sandra Nashat, which was the beginning of a stage of cooperation in several films, including “The Hostage” in 2006, “Prisoned Transit” in 2008, and the movie “The Ghost” with Director Amr Arafa, and he won the best actor award for the year 2007 for his role. He also presented the movie “Badal Lost” with director Ahmed Alaa El Deeb in 2009.

In 2011, Ezz presented the movie “365 Days of Happiness” with the Lebanese director Saeed Al-Marouk in his first cinematic experience, and in 2012 he presented two films together: “The Interest” with director Sandra Nashat, which was a return to their cooperation following 5 years, and “A Dream.” Aziz”, in which he returned to work with director Amr Arafa once more, while in 2015 he presented the movie “The Party” with director Ahmed Alaa El Deeb.

He also presented 3 works with director Tariq Al-Arian, which is the movie “Welad Rizk” in 2015 and the second part of it in 2019. In 2017, he presented the movie “The Cell”, and for his role in it he won the Best Actor award at the Arab Film Awards “Oscar” for the year 2018. .

At the beginning of 2019, he presented the movie “The Passage” regarding the heroics of the War of Attrition, which is his first collaboration with the great director Sherif Arafa, and in 2021, he presented the movie “Al-Aref” with Ahmed Alaa Al-Deeb, and he returned to cooperate once more with Arafa through the movie “The Crime”. In 2022, in the same year, he presented the movie “Kira Wal Jinn” with director Marwan Hamed, in their first collaboration.

From 2019 to this day, the artist Ahmed Ezz presented 5 films in Egyptian cinema, through which he collected 385 million pounds, which is a record that no Egyptian artist has reached in that period or in previous periods for the films “The Corridor” and “Wlad Rizk 2” and “The Knower,” “The Crime,” and finally, “Kira and the Jinn.”

The Cairo International Film Festival is the oldest and most regular festival in the Arab world and Africa, and is unique in that it is the only festival in the Arab and African region registered under category A of the International Federation of Producers in Brasilis, France, FIAPF.
