“An attack that violates international law”.. US representative calls for investigation into her country’s role in the “Pager” attack in Lebanon

“The Israeli pager attack in Lebanon led to the detonation of thousands of devices across a large number of public places, seriously injuring and killing innocent civilians,” the MP wrote in a post on the “X” platform.

“This attack clearly and unequivocally violates international humanitarian law and undermines U.S. efforts to prevent a broader conflict,” she stressed, adding: “Congress needs a full accounting of the attack, including an answer from the State Department about whether any U.S. assistance went to developing or deploying this technology.”

In turn, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced resolutions that would prevent US arms sales to Israel.

“Congress must act to save lives, uphold American and international law, and defend American interests,” he said. “We must end our complicity in Israel’s illegal and indiscriminate military campaign, which has caused mass civilian deaths and suffering in Gaza.”

About three thousand people were injured and 12 people were killed in different areas of Lebanon on Tuesday afternoon when pager devices exploded simultaneously in the hands of members of the Lebanese factions movement, in an unprecedented attack, for which the state and the Lebanese factions held Israel responsible.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken denied reports that Washington had prior knowledge of the pager bombing.

“We were not aware of this operation and were not involved in it,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters.

The Lebanese factions movement held Israel responsible for the operation, stressing that “this path is continuous and separate from the difficult reckoning that the criminal enemy must await for the massacre it committed against our people, our families, and our mujahideen in Lebanon. This is another reckoning that will come, God willing.”

In another attack, 20 people were killed and hundreds injured on Wednesday, after wireless communication devices exploded in Lebanon, which were in the possession of members of the Lebanese factions movement.
