Terror attack at the Mesmia intersection: An armed terrorist arrived today (Friday) at around 12:30 in a stolen vehicle at a bus station at the Ram junction (Masmia) and opened fire with a gun at civilians who were standing at the station. Six injured were taken to hospitals in the area. Two of them were later pronounced dead at Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot. One of them is Yishai Gartner, 23 years old from Modi’in, a student of the “Maor HaTalmud” yeshiva in Kiryat Malachi.

According to eyewitnesses, “the terrorist was wearing a cap and an ISIS-style beard. He got out of a Mazda-type vehicle and started shooting with a gun.” The terrorist is Paddy Jamjum37 years old from Shuafat neighborhood in Jerusalem.

Shortly following the shooting began, an Israeli citizen who was driving near the scene of the attack stopped near the station, got out of his vehicle, shot at the terrorist and neutralized him with his personal weapon.
The citizen, a former member of the security forces, said: “I was on the other side of the road, I saw him shooting and I ran with the gun. I charged towards him, shot from a distance and then closed the distance to him. I advanced towards him while I was shooting, and then I reached him to make sure he was neutralized.”

Shai Reichner, head of the Nahal Sorek regional council, said: “We raised the emergency squads as soon as the attack was reported. The response of the security units was quick and accurate. It is very unfortunate that a terrorist mainly manages to reach the center of the country on days like these, at the entrance of the Nahal Sorek Regional Council. Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai and Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir arrived at the scene of the attack and received updates on the spot.

Commissioner Shabtai said: “We are focusing on the investigative issue. Minister Ben Gvir stated: “Condolences are offered to the families of the murdered and recovery to the injured. This attack proves that weapons in the hands of civilians save people’s lives. The police work very hard, but cannot be everywhere. We had a citizen here who saved a life.
