An atmosphere of piety and conviviality

During the last ten days preceding Eid al Fitr, where the religious and social dimension is very important, solidarity actions are organized in all the delegations of the governorate of Kairouan.

Regional officials and various NGOs have distributed food products, new clothes and toys to needy families and the marginalized so that they can celebrate Eid in good conditions, knowing that this holiday is celebrated in as a rite of a religious nature, in an atmosphere of contemplation, solidarity and great reunions.

In addition, free circumcision ceremonies will take place on the “Night of Destiny” at the Sidi Sahbi Mausoleum, where large quantities of lamb couscous and tajine will be prepared for all visitors.

In addition, in all places of worship, prayers and introspections are multiplied, the culmination of which will coincide with the “Night of Destiny” during which an official ceremony will take place at the Great Mosque Okba, in the presence of a great number of faithful from Kairouan, but also from other governorates.

Thus, we can attend a theological conference, followed by invocations and liturgical songs, then the distribution of prizes to the winners of the competition for recitation and memorization of the Koran.

Don’t forget the pastries

On the other hand, as Eid al Fitr is well anchored in our traditions, it is celebrated with great brilliance and takes on a religious, civilizational and social dimension. Synonymous with gifts, toys, beautiful outfits and new costumes; this holiday is also an opportunity to reconcile with loved ones and to prepare cakes, each according to their budget.

Among the very popular pastries, we can mention the famous makroudh with date paste, the succulent baqlawa with pistachios, samsa with almonds, kaâk ouarqastuffed dates, hazelnut dumplings, kaâk anbaras well as ghraïbas with sorghum, chickpea or flour.

However, some young brides set their sights on the mother-in-law who agrees to assist them in accomplishing this age-old task. Others, overwhelmed by their work, prefer to stock up on cakes from the various pastries.

And it is in an atmosphere of conviviality that everyone will welcome Eid where spiritual emotion and earthly pleasure come together in a vibrant allegro.
