Speaking to Independent Urdu, Yasir Ali said: ‘I have been interested in astronomy since childhood and at that time I had a telescope, which I did not even know how to use properly. But still I used to turn it towards the sky and look at the moon and fulfill my passion.’

To pursue his passion for astronomy, he later found a group called Space Sciences, which gave him considerable guidance and bought his own personal telescope.

He founded Yasir Ali Rawalpindi’s Astronomical Society and also created a YouTube page, through which he is educating the general public about astronomy.

“People in Pakistan do not have special knowledge about astronomy and the available information is also in English, which is not understood by common people. Therefore, I try to provide awareness about astronomy in Urdu language through social media platforms.

Yasir Ali explains: ‘What I didn’t get in my childhood, I try to give these children this information easily.’

Yasir Ali holds an event for children every month at the Children’s Park in Rawalpindi, while educating students in schools and colleges about the moon and astronomy.

Yasir Ali said that ‘the children who come here for the first time and make eye contact with the eyepiece of the telescope, then they jump with joy and hear strange words from their mouths.’

He said that ‘seeing the children happy gives me a sense of peace and that day becomes immortal for me.’

According to Yasir Ali, he has been working on astronomy for two and a half years, for which he imported telescopes and other equipment from abroad.

He said that the subject of astronomy is not taught in educational institutions, due to which people do not know about it.
