An Egyptian astronomer revealed the truth of an image spread on social media platforms showing a black hole that will devour the planet Earth.

Dr. Gad El-Qadi, head of the Astronomical Research Institute in Egypt, explained that there is no truth to such rumors circulating.

Al-Qadi said, during a telephone interview today on the “Good Morning Egypt” program on Channel One, that man always has a set of questions regarding the origin of the universe and human life on the globe.

He added, during his interview with the media, Ahmed Abdel-Samad and Basant Al-Husseini, that astronomers always try to search to answer such questions, relying on observatories that capture the deepest and farthest images of the universe and search for them.

He pointed out that the first attempt to discover the black hole was in 2017, explaining that in 2019, scientists discovered a clearer picture of the hole and the existence of a galaxy other than the Milky Way.

He stated that scientists have concluded that the black hole is located inside the Milky Way, regarding 26 billion light-years away.

And he showed that the black hole is one of the predictions that Einstein predicted in the theory of gravity, and that it balances the center of the galaxy, and does not cause the galaxy to devour, as some predict.

He attributed the spread of such rumors to the lack of scientific information among some, in addition to the fact that the spread of the Corona virus (Covid 19) led to the emergence of many rumors regarding the end of the universe.
