Archyde.com reported that an armed attack took place in North Sinai, and said that the attack killed 5 Egyptian security forces.

Two security sources said that at least 5 members of the Egyptian army were killed this morning, Wednesday, in an attack by armed men in the northern Sinai Peninsula.

The two sources added that four others were wounded when gunmen opened fire on a security outpost in the coastal area in northeastern Sinai, adjacent to the Gaza Strip.

Today’s attack comes following an officer and ten recruits were killed in an attack on a security checkpoint in Sinai on May 7. ISIS later claimed responsibility for it.

Later, the Egyptian Armed Forces announced, today, Wednesday, that it had directed a number of strikes once morest terrorist elements in North Sinai.

In a statement, she said, “The Air Force carried out a focused air strike on May 7, which resulted in the destruction of a number of terrorist outposts, and the destruction of two four-wheel drive vehicles used by terrorist elements to implement their criminal plans, resulting in the killing of 9 Takfiri elements.”

The armed forces succeeded, according to the statement, “in discovering and destroying a number of explosive devices intended to target the Egyptian forces, and were also able to thwart an attempt to attack one of the security pillars, which led to the killing of 7 Takfiri elements.”
