An Argentine lifeguard remains in critical condition after falling from a third-floor balcony in Mallorca: the family’s request

Francisco “Pancho” Gattabria, a 30-year-old Argentinian lifeguard living in Spain, is going through a critical moment after suffering a serious fall from the third floor of a hotel in Mallorca on Friday morning. Faced with this desperate situation, his family launched a campaign on social media to raise the necessary funds required for his recovery.

Pancho, who is originally from Ensenada and is known for his work in Punta Lara, was spending time in that Spanish city when, according to the newspaper Última Hora, he tried to access a room from the balcony and fell into the void, hitting his head on the floor.

The accident occurred at the Hotel de Alcudia, where he was staying, and was witnessed by several guests who quickly called the emergency services. The young man was transferred in critical condition to the Son Espases University Hospital, where he remains hospitalised with a serious head injury.

His family, with great effort, traveled from Argentina to be with him in this difficult moment. However, the expenses of staying in Spain are high, so his parents – Analía and Miguel – started a collection through the GoFundMe platform and the Mercado Pago app. They need to raise at least 5,000 euros to cover the family’s expenses in Spain. In addition, those who wish to collaborate from Argentina can do so by transferring money to CVU Gattabria.mp.

Pancho, like so many other Argentine lifeguards, moved to Spain to work during the summer season in Mallorca, an island that attracts thousands of tourists every year. He had always dreamed of expanding his experience to the European market. However, this accident abruptly interrupted his life and left him in an extremely delicate situation.

“Pancho” is 30 years old and is from Ensenada

On his Facebook profile he shows his fanaticism for sport and especially for swimming, with dozens of photos where he is seen near the sea. His latest posts also show him in European cities such as Tropea, in Calabria (Italy), or Madrid (Spain).

“Our dear friend and colleague Pancho is fighting for his life and needs all of us,” coworkers, friends and colleagues of the young lifeguard expressed on social media.

“Any contribution, however small, will be of great help to alleviate part of this burden. If you cannot contribute financially, we ask you to share this message so that more people can join this cause,” they stressed.

These kinds of initiatives are essential at times like these, when distance and costs make it difficult to provide the immediate and long-term care that Francisco needs. Despite the uncertainty about his health, his loved ones maintain hope for a recovery, while they face the harsh reality of a long process of medical care abroad.

The family asks for help to cover expenses in Spain

The case of Francisco Gattabria has not only mobilized Argentines, but also the international community. While Pancho continues to fight for his life in a foreign hospital, his family and friends are trying hard to give him the support he needs.

The fundraising campaign is still active, and every day more people join in to offer their support, either by sharing the message or making donations. The hope is that, with everyone’s help, Pancho and his family can overcome this difficult time and return together to Argentina.
