An Argentine couple wanted to cross into Brazil with US$93,700 without declaring

An Argentine couple was surprised by Agents of the General Directorate of Customs-AFIP when trying to leave the country in a vehicle inside which was a backpack with 93,700 dollars without declaring.

It was in the framework of a routine operation that was carried out at the Bernardo de Irigoyen (Misiones) – Dionisio Cerqueira (Brazil) border crossing.

During a control, the customs agents requested the vehicle’s documentation and asked the usual questions, to which the passengers replied that they had nothing to declare.

When asking them to get out of the car and display their personal belongings, they detected a backpack with the sum of 93,700 dollars that were not declared, Customs reported in a statement.

Since the amount greatly exceeded the limit allowed by the baggage regime, the agency’s staff seized the money within the framework of article 979 of the Customs Code, documentation, cell phones and the vehicle, in addition to having made the proper complaint before the courts.

Personnel from the agency led by Guillermo Michel ordered the seizure of the currency, cell phones and the car with an Argentine patent, intervening the Federal Court of El Dorado.
