The top five oil areas of Vaca Muerta in February

The most productive area of crude oil in Vaca Muerta is Loma Campana, which reached 74,100 barrels per day in February. In year-on-year terms, the block added some 13,100 barrels to its daily extractions.

The second is also operated by YPF and is La Amarga Chica: This block registered extractions of 51,800 barrels per day. Compared to February 2022, it added some 15,100 barrels and is the block that added the greatest amount to its daily yields from the formation.
As we noted above, Vista’s Bajada del Palo Oeste entered the top three areas and in February it averaged extractions of 36,400 barrels per day. Compared to the previous month, it added close to 7,000 barrels and in year-on-year terms it added 9,100 barrels.

In fourth place was YPF’s Bandurria Sur with a monthly average of 28,300 barrels per day. Taking into account the data from January, the block lost regarding 1,000 barrels per day, but compared to February of last year it added regarding 8,600 barrels.
Finally, Shell’s Cruz de Lorena was ranked fifth in the ranking which averaged extractions of 13,100 barrels per day. The area pumped regarding 1,500 barrels less than in January and another 2,500 barrels year-on-year.
In the latter case, it is probable that the data for March show a productive jump, since the firm connected new wells in the block.
