An Arab meeting demands a halt to arming Israel and warns against invading Rafah

Cairo – Yesterday, Wednesday, the Arab League called on the United States and European Union countries to stop exporting weapons and ammunition to Israel, warning Tel Aviv of the repercussions of its invasion of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

This came in a decision of the Arab League Council following an emergency meeting at the delegate level at its headquarters in Cairo, according to a final statement reported by the official Egyptian News Agency.

The Council, which was held at the request of the State of Palestine, strongly condemned “the continuation of the Israeli aggression and crime of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Al-Aqsa Mosque.”

He warned that “the intention of the Israeli occupation army to invade the city of Rafah will mean a new massacre of the Palestinian people,” stressing that “Israel bears a major criminal political responsibility for this, especially since this will lead to the situation detonating beyond control.”

Rafah Governorate, adjacent to the Egyptian border, is the last refuge for the displaced in the Gaza Strip, and it currently contains more than 1,400,000 Palestinians, including 1,300,000 who were displaced from other governorates under the weight of violent bombardment with the intention of forcing them to evacuate their areas.

The meeting called on “the Security Council once again to take a decision under Chapter Seven of the United Nations Charter (its decisions are binding) that guarantees Israel’s compliance with the ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid.”

The Council denounced “last Thursday’s use of the United States’ veto in the Security Council against the State of Palestine obtaining its right to full membership in the United Nations.”

He stressed that “this matter contradicts the responsibility of the United Nations towards the Palestinian issue, which demonstrates the United States’ failure to fulfill the requirements and foundations of peace, security and stability in the region, and its inconsistency with its declared positions in support of the two-state solution.”

The Council called on “the United States and the European Union countries to stop exporting weapons and ammunition and to stop financing the production of drones used by Israel, the occupying power, in the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people.”

He called on “all countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to quickly recognize it in order to save the chances of peace and achieve security and stability in the region and the world.”

The Council also called on “international justice mechanisms to conduct an independent investigation into the mass graves that were uncovered in the Al-Shifa (in Gaza City) and Nasser (in Khan Yunis, south) medical complexes in the Gaza Strip.”

On Monday, the Gaza Civil Defense Service announced in a statement that the number of bodies recovered had risen to 283, in a mass grave discovered on Saturday in “Nasser” Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Strip, from which the Israeli army withdrew after widespread violations, before announcing today that the number of bodies had risen to 334.

Since last October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with American support that has left more than 112,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 7,000 missing, massive destruction, and famine that has claimed the lives of children and the elderly, according to Palestinian and UN data. .

Israel continues its war despite the issuance of an immediate ceasefire resolution by the Security Council, and despite its appearance before the International Court of Justice on charges of committing “genocide.”
