This Thursday, the National Assembly (AN), chaired by Jorge Rodríguez, unanimously approved the sanction of the law for the regularization and supervision of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the country.
“The Law on Supervision, Regularization, Action and Financing of Non-Governmental Organizations and Non-Profit Social Organizations is hereby declared sanctioned and is sent to the Executive of the Republic for the purposes of its promulgation, in accordance with article 213 of our Constitution. We invite the president of the Internal Policy Commission (Diosdado Cabello) to receive the Law already sanctioned by our National Assembly,” added the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez.
“The Law on Supervision, Regularization, Action and Financing of Non-Governmental Organizations and Non-Profit Social Organizations was unanimously approved in its second discussion,” the official account of the Venezuelan Parliament also reported on X.
The State maintains that this law seeks to establish a system to review the accountability of agents who receive national or foreign financing, arguing that at least 62 NGOs operate in Venezuela that are allegedly financed by foreign governments, including the United States, which seek to operate for political purposes to “destabilize” the country.
