Nasibu, a gorilla weighing a hundred kilos, mortally wounded a small monkey of the Mangabe race called Fito. They lived together in an enclosure in Pairi Daiza, with two other monkeys of both species.
On Saturday, visitors to the famous animal park witnessed the scene. The little monkey provoked the gorilla “to play”, but Nasibu did not like it. He might not be saved by the healers: “We arrived too late”.
“As in all modern zoos, we try to put different species in the same enclosure (…) These two species are used to living together. Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens when we work with the living” , explains to RTL Tim Bouts, zoological director and responsible for the caretakers of the park.
