EXCLUSIVE TRANSLATION: The Los Angeles Fire Department installed an airbag down a highway outside Los Angeles Airport on Thursday for a man threatening to jump following a high-speed chase.
According to ABC 7, the unidentified driver led officers with the California Highway Patrol in a chase that originated in San Diego County earlier before he was eventually detained outside the Southern California airport. According to the Daily Mail.
After arriving at the airport, the man jumped out of his car, a dark-colored Nissan sedan, and drove toward the edge of the bridge near Los Angeles Airport.
LAPD officers clashed with the man on top of the bridge for more than an hour before the airbag was installed.
Officers on the bridge were within feet of the man, whose helicopter footage showed him sitting on a highway curb as officers managed to arrest him at the last minute.
