Some people like to set up an office at home, while others feel the need to socialize. There is no right or wrong here – to each his own. But one person has taken remote work to the next level – he just travels all the time.
Todd Kumpf works entirely remotely. Last year he radically changed his lifestyle. And not in the sense that “from now on I won’t eat sweets anymore.” He traded his apartment in Los Angeles for monthly stays in Airbnb apartments throughout the southwest coast of the United States. The most interesting thing is that he travels in his beloved 1971 BMW 2002. Todd decided he should document his trips – his blog is filled with stunning images of old towns, old towns, rusty cars, and beautiful landscapes.
He spends a month in each new location, working four days a week. In the remaining three days he explores the surrounding area. Todd has already visited California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. He plans to travel to northern California, Oregon and Washington in the spring. By 2025, it aims to travel through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah.
That’s not too bad for a ’71 BMW 2002 that’s still running. The name came from the fact that it had a two-liter engine and a two-door body. When this model first appeared in 1968, it attracted attention and brought in money. It was all-wheel drive, light and nimble, looked quite elegant for the era, and was as reliable as it gets. Fun fact: This is the original predecessor of the BMW 3 Series.
