The Table Association confirmed the resumption of the activities of singles and doubles competitions starting from next season, following stopping for a period due to the effects of the Corona pandemic, noting that the start of the season will be in the Federation Cup next September.
Ibrahim Al-Asam, Vice-President of the Table Federation, confirmed that the Federation is working to find ways for players to participate in the matches more to increase their experiences, especially the national players, and to work to expand the spread of table tennis, especially among young players as they are an important tributary to the national teams, whether for the current stages or adults later.
Al-Asam indicated that within the mechanisms of developing the Federation’s competitions, the Competitions Committee discussed, during its last meeting, a proposal regarding the development process for the men’s league. On a neutral stadium, while the second round of two rounds will be held in the home and away system between the first four teams to determine the positions from the first to the fourth, and it is also held by the “play-off” system to determine the positions from the fifth to the last, and with regard to the equality of two or more teams for the first place, it is held between them Playoff or pool tournament in order to determine the champion.
Al-Asam explained that the proposal also included the participation of a player under 21 years of age, born in 2001 and later, among the four players participating in the match, provided that he be a citizen player. This is done through open tournaments to raise their efficiency and increase their experience.
With regard to the external camp system, he said that this system has been modified to suit the International Federation through the establishment of a complex camp that will witness matches with all participants from different countries of the world before the start of the official tournaments, which provides a great opportunity for citizen players to interact with players of different nationalities with expertise. .
As for the mechanism of attracting new players, Al-Assam confirmed that the federation is continuing in this regard to discover new talents, in cooperation with the sports councils in the country.
