The investigating judge at the Souk Ahras court ordered the provisional detention of an alleged arsonist arrested for setting fire to one of the forests in the wilaya of Souk Ahras, said Thursday a press release from the public prosecutor near the same court.

“In accordance with the provisions of article 11 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the public prosecutor at the court of Souk Ahras brings to the attention of public opinion that the judicial investigations in progress on the forest fires in the territory of jurisdiction, resulted in the arrest of an arsonist suspected of having set fire to the forest adjacent to the city of 400 dwellings”, reads the press release.

“The suspect, subjected to the search by the security services, had in his possession three lighters”, specifies the same source, noting “that it is the named (KS) aged 29, a convict” .

The Souk Ahras prosecutor’s office explained that the referral procedures to the section in charge of terrorism cases at the Sidi M’hamed court (Algiers) will be initiated in the event of confirmation of the subversive nature of these acts.
