An Algerian-Palestinian customs program encompassing training and the fight against cross-border crime

ORAN – The Director General of Algerian Customs Noureddine Khaldi announced Thursday in Oran the development of a program between Algerian and Palestinian Customs which includes numerous clauses relating in particular to training, the fight once morest cross-border crime and the exchange of information.

On the sidelines of a visit to the Higher School of Customs in Oran, accompanied by the Commander of Palestinian Customs, Major General Iyad Abderrezak Hamdane Barkat, and the Palestinian Ambassador to Algeria Khaled Abou Aita, Mr. Khaldi told the press that a program has been developed between the two establishments, declaring “we are working to develop relations between the Algerian and Palestinian customs administrations”.

This program will cover several aspects including training, information exchange, the fight once morest cross-border crime, money laundering and the fight once morest drugs, he said.

Affirming the qualitative leap recorded by Algerian Customs in recent years at the national and international level, Noureddine Khaldi underlined that Algeria “will spare no effort to transmit this knowledge to the brothers of Palestine”.

The Director General of Algerian Customs discussed the meeting which took place last Tuesday in Algiers between the officials of his institution and the Palestinian Customs, pointing out that during this meeting all the points necessary for the Palestinian customs officers in the accomplishment of their missions were discussed.

“Today, as part of the training, we are visiting the Higher School of Customs of Oran, which has a long history in the training of executives and customs officers and the Palestinian delegation was informed regarding all the facilities of this establishment which will be at the service of our Palestinian brothers in the field of training,” he said.

For his part, the Commander of the Palestinian Customs, Major General Iyad Abderrezak Hamdane Barakat, expressed his admiration for the capacities of the Algerian Customs officers during his visit to the Higher School of Customs in Oran.

“We have discovered in this school a lot of what we Palestinian customs officers need”, he underlined, adding “the body of Algerian Customs, led by Director General Khaldi, has not neglected any of our requests and we are in the process of determining the training that Palestinian Customs needs so that our administration is ready and strong”.

“We are proud to have training in Algeria that will make the Palestinian customs administration strong and superior in view of Algeria’s known potential in this area,” he said.

The Palestinian delegation visited, together with the DG of Algerian Customs and the wali of Oran, various structures of the school (shooting range, classrooms and various laboratories of the school).

A presentation presenting the missions of the school of Oran and the National Customs Training Center to which the customs schools of the country are affiliated, was presented.

On the same occasion, many retired and serving executives and customs officers were honored as a thank you for their professional career, during a ceremony chaired by the Director General of Algerian Customs, the Commander of Palestinian Customs, Major General Iyad Abderrezak Hamdane Barakat and the Palestinian Ambassador to Algeria.
