This project, signed by the CEO of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, and the CEO of China Petroleum Engineering Corporation in Algeria, Cheng Xiang, aims to compensate for the natural decline in production at the Alrar field and keep it at 10 million cubic meters per day.
According to the explanations provided, the value of the contract is 210 million dollars, including 7 billion Algerian dinars, while the completion period is estimated at 32 months, as it is expected to enter service at the end of the second quarter of 2027.
In the project details, the contract includes the completion of three compression units, modification of the fluid collection and separation complexes at the inlet of the fluid receivers, installation of booster pumps, connection of the units to existing facilities and infrastructure, and expansion of the fire-fighting network, anti-intrusion systems and remote monitoring.
The project also includes the construction of an electrical substation and the rehabilitation of the existing integrated monitoring and safety system.
In his statements about the project, Hachichi said that this project represents “Sonatrach’s determination and commitment to continue its investment in the upstream side of gas projects to meet the growing needs of the national market.”
He stressed that “it will allow the complex to manage the natural decline in production of the Alrar gas field, which has been exploited since 1984, and to continue its production, and it will also enable Sonatrach to fulfill its commercial obligations towards its customers in the international market, where Algeria plays an important role.”
According to its CEO, Sonatrach is counting on the efficiency of the China Petroleum Engineering Corporation and its ability to complete this project, while adhering to time, cost and quality, in addition to all applicable security and environmental standards.
