Just four days before the start of the new First Division tournament, Martín Palermo resigned as coach of Aldosivi de Mar del Plata. Still with a contract in force until the end of the year, the Titan decided to step aside causing surprise not only in the Shark but in the entire football environment.
Although the club from the port of Mar del Plata did not provide official information in this regard, other than a farewell greeting and a wish for success, one of the most important leaders of Aldosivi criticized the actions of the 48-year-old coach. “It bothers me that I give up a few days before the tournament”expressed the Vice President Jose Moscuzzain dialogue with TyC Sports.
“It was unexpected. He annoyed me a bit, yes. If I had been thinking regarding it, I might have said it a few days ago when we got together to talk regarding the reinforcements. 10 days passed, and when I called him, he told me that he was leaving ”, added the leader.
Regarding the motives that led Palermo to step aside, revealed: “He told me that he had no strength to continue. That he didn’t want the club to hurt him and that the players perceived that and that’s why he was leaving”.
One of the rumors was that there was a bad relationship between Martín Palermo and Aldosivi’s manager, Ciro Lubrano. “There was no short circuit with the manager. He did not tell me that the decision to leave is for the manager ”, Moscow assured. And regarding the alleged discomfort of the Titan due to the possible departure of several players, especially Martín Cauterruccio, he added: “I did not receive a concrete offer for anyone. They are all rumours. If a strong offer comes, yes because the club needs to sell, but for now nothing.
To finish, José Moscuzza announced that they have not defined the successor of Palermo: “It is not an easy task to look for a technician now. Let’s take the necessary time. Yagui Fernández will be the interim”.
Under the leadership of Martín Palermo, Aldosivi was one of the eight qualified for the final instance of the League Cup, where he fell in the quarterfinals 5-0 once morest Racing, and managed to move away from the last places in the table of averages.
