An agroecological promotion project launched Thursday in Nioro


Kaolack, March 13 (APS) – The agroecological promotion project for a sustainable food system (PASAD) will be officially launched in the department of Nioro du Rip (center), Thursday, during a workshop to share the orientations of the said project, we learned from a press release.

He specifies that this sharing workshop will be organized for the territorial actors of this department of the Kaolack region.

According to the press release, this meeting will be an opportunity to share the objectives and orientations of the project with the beneficiaries, the administrative and local authorities as well as the development partners.

It aims to find solutions or alternatives for strengthening household agro-ecological production systems for sustainable and inclusive food and nutritional security in the districts of Wack Ngouna and Paoskoto by 2026.

The press release notes that PASAD is part of a context marked by the decline in the fertility of plant production areas, the insufficient income of rural households and the low valuation of agricultural production.

It also evokes the predominance of traditional beliefs prohibiting children and pregnant women from consuming certain foods.

“This context is also marked by the low resilience of communities in the face of the effects of climate change, the poor control of natural resource governance policies by local authorities, the difficult access of women and young people to factors of production and migration. young people,” the statement added.
