An African youth reached Al-Azhar University after traveling to 6 countries on a bicycle

A young man from the African country of Guinea reached Al-Azhar University in Egypt by traveling to 6 countries on a bicycle. According to the report, African youth Mamoudu Sufayo traveled 4 thousand kilometers in four months and reached Cairo.

While giving an interview to the international media, Mamoudu said that he might not afford to take a degree in Islamic studies at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, nor did he have the money to buy an air ticket. The young student said that the high reputation of Al-Azhar University Forced me to get here through Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, Benin, Niger and Chad.

He said that he was arrested three times without any reason, the detentions happened in Burkina Faso and Togo. After an interview with a journalist in Chad, many people came to Mamoudu’s aid and gave him so much. He gave money to reach Egypt by air flight from Chad, otherwise he would have to travel to Sudan by bicycle.

After arriving in Cairo on September 5, Dr. Nahla Al-Saeidi, Dean of the Islamic Studies Department at Al-Azhar University, met him.

Dr. Nahla Al-Saeidi says that this support is not only provided for international students in Egypt but also abroad. He said that Al-Azhar University admits students from all countries and also provides them with grants.
