In the end, Liu Dawei’s parents learned that according to the national law, as long as the number exceeds 10, they will be considered as a crime of smuggling weapons. In 2018, the Supreme Court and the Supreme Procuratorate jointly announced the approval on the sentencing of guns. Liu Dawei’s case was reopened and the life sentence was changed to 7 years and 3 months.
