Three people were taken out of the water this Sunday, May 15, 2022 in Lacanau (Gironde). 18-year-old did not survive prolonged stay in water
The tide was falling. This Sunday, May 15, 2022 around 7:15 p.m., three bathers found themselves in difficulty near the central beach of Lacanau (Gironde), outside supervised swimming hours. However, lifeguards were able to rescue two of them who were pulled out of the water.
Seriously affected and exhausted by drowning, an 18-year-old girl was taken by firefighters to the Arès clinic. A 19-year-old did not have to be transported and was taken into account on the spot. They were probably carried away by a baïne.

The last swimmer was not found for a long time. It was the civil security helicopter, Dragon 33, which spotted him in the water, hoisted him up and brought him back to the sand. Despite attempts at resuscitation, the 18-year-old Ivorian did not survive. He died on the sand.
