Amsterdam Marathon 2023: A Race to Remember!

Well, well! The Amsterdam Marathon has come and gone, and like a whiff of that peculiar Dutch cheese, it leaves an unforgettable aftertaste! This year’s event took place on Sunday, October 20, and it was nothing short of spectacular.

The men’s race saw Tsegaye Getachew from Ethiopia pull a brilliantly swift trick out of his hat, finishing in 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 37 seconds. Now, while that’s impressively quick, let’s not forget the event record of 2 hours, 3 minutes, and 39 seconds. At this pace, you’d think these lads were being chased by a swarm of angry bees! But alas, we’ll stick to calling it a personal best rather than a record-breaking run.

Now, let’s get to the real drama, shall we? In the women’s category, we had the dazzling Yalemzerf Yehualaw, who practically sprinted her way through the competition. She came home in 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 52 seconds, smashing the previous record by a solid 27 seconds! Honestly, she probably could’ve stopped for a quick snack along the way, and still won! How do they even run that fast without the help of a DeLorean?

After all, what’s a run without the promise of a little something sweet at the end?
