América Móvil, the company that owns the operator Clear, this week reported its financial results for the 4th quarter and the entire year of 2022. The company saw net profit drop considerably in these periods.
According to the bulletin released, América Móvil’s profit in 2022 was 76.15 billion Mexican pesos (R$ 21.22 billion). In 2021, the company obtained 192.42 billion Mexican pesos (approximately R$ 53.51 billion), i.e. an annual drop of 60.4%.
When we consider only the 4th quarter of last year, the drop was 90%. Profit, in the annual comparison between the months of October and December, fell from 131.98 billion Mexican pesos (R$ 36.74 billion) to 13.71 billion Mexican pesos (R$ 3.85 billion) in 2021.
On the other hand, América Móvil’s revenue grew 1.7% last year, standing at 855.4 billion Mexican pesos (R$ 239.91 billion). In the fourth quarter, however, it recorded a drop of 2.4%, adding up to 216 billion Mexican pesos (R$ 60.58 billion).

Customers
As for customers, América Móvil announced the addition of 1.5 million new postpaid users and 1.8 million prepaid users in the 4th quarter. The company also disconnected 4.1 million migrant customers from Oi to Clarobut which were not active.
The company ended 2022 with 300 million mobile subscriptions (up 7.6% over 2021), with Brazil accounting for 83.26 million customers, the company’s largest market. The number of users in the country grew by 18% compared to 2021.
Brazil is also América Móvil’s biggest market for fixed services, with 24.13 million subscriptions. In total, when taking into account other countries, the company remained stable in this segment with 73.28 million customers.
