Amr Moussa: Normalization agreements should not be free or a succumb to pressure

During an interview with the “Up Close” program on Cairo News Channel, Moussa explained that the Palestinian situation is extremely critical, whether in Gaza, the West Bank, or Jerusalem, and the root of the problem is the continuation of the Israeli occupation, which has been ignored internationally for long periods, according to what was reported by the “Masrawy” website.

The former Secretary-General of the Arab League pointed out that there is a systematic plan by the Israeli government to seize the remaining Palestinian lands under its actual control. This plan aims to expand Israeli control over all Palestinian territory from the Jordan River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.

The former Secretary-General of the Arab League believed that the escalating violence since October 2023 is an inevitable result of Israel’s deliberate disregard for international laws and norms, its clear violation of the Oslo Accords, and the unjust policies pursued by the Israeli authorities against the Palestinian people, such as settlement construction, displacement, and genocide.

Amr Moussa criticized the lack of international will to deal seriously with the Palestinian issue and the persistent pursuit of finding just and fair solutions for the Palestinian people.

He added that the explosion of Palestinian popular anger in the face of unjust Israeli policies confirms the extent of the Palestinian people’s adherence to their rights and principles, no matter the sacrifices and no matter how harsh the occupation’s brutality and violation of the most basic human rights.

Moussa stressed that the issue of normalization should not be gratuitous or subject to any pressure, but rather should be based on the provisions of the Arab Initiative and on the Palestinian people obtaining their legitimate and established rights.
