Al Ghurair Foods Company today announced the laying of the foundation stone for its new state-of-the-art corn starch manufacturing facility in the Khalifa Economic Zone in Abu Dhabi – Kizad Group. Al Ghurair said in a statement that under the Musataha agreement with “KIZAD”, the land will be leased for 50 years to establish three large-scale projects in the food processing sector, including a corn processing plant, with a total investment value of more than one billion dirhams.
The company explains that the plant is the first of its kind in the region and represents a very important step towards strengthening local food production and supporting the United Arab Emirates’ national food security strategy.
Located in Kizad (A) – Maamoura, the independent factory covers an area of 13.6 hectares and is designed to serve the local and international markets.
The plant will initially process 650 tons of corn per day, with plans to increase capacity to 1,000 tons per day as demand grows.
The scheme is expected to provide significant employment opportunities, with more than 200 jobs for the local workforce.
