London/Tehran/Vienna – The human rights organization Amnesty International has noted a massive increase in executions in Iran. In 2023, 853 people were executed by the mullahs’ regime, 48 percent more than in the previous year, Amnesty said on Thursday. Iranian prisons are “scenes of mass killings”. The NGO criticized the regime for using the death penalty to “instill fear and terror” in the population after the mass protests in 2022.
