Amnesty International calls for an investigation after the 23 dead

Following the violent demonstrations which broke out in Senegal which led to several deaths, the NGO Amnesty International decided to demand an independent investigation.

Amnesty, which gives an increasing human toll, denounces excessive use of force as well as attacks on freedom of expression and information. According to its figures, the said organization deplores ” Nearly 23 dead, including several by bullets, were recorded between Dakar and Ziguinchor“, among them, three were minors.

Better, Amnesty says to have noted, in videos which it analyzed, the presence, alongside the police, of armed men in civilian clothes who violently attack the demonstrators, according to information from TV5MONDE.

Amnesty International also deplored the suspension of access to popular social networks and internet access via mobile phones.
