Ammunition factory in Norway criticizes consumption of TikTok data center

Norwegian military company Nammo is clashing with TikTok in the country, according to the Financial Times. The company would be struggling to expand its production in the city of Raufoss, where it has its largest factory, because the new data center of the Chinese social network draws a lot of energy for itself.

The statement is from the CEO of the company Morten Brandtzaeg. Local energy company Elvia said that, in fact, there is no spare capacity on the grid. The War in Ukraine would have increased the demand for ammunition by regarding 15 times, however – and the president of Nammo goes so far as to suggest that the construction of the data center was no coincidence.

The head of the Innlandet County Council Business Development Committee said he would address the issue of supplying the electricity needed for the factory as the state would have an interest in its development.

Norway is among the eighteen countries that have joined the European Defense Agency’s project to receive orders for 155 mm ammunition for the Ukrainian Army, at NATO service.

It is also worth remembering that the USA supplied a large number of American M777 howitzers, German PzH 2000, Polish Krab and French Caesar to Kiev, used in the bombing of cities in Donbass.
