President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will consult the cancellation of pacific alliance summit before the absence of the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo.
“It is very likely, I am going to make a consultation today, that the meeting of the countries of the Pacific Alliance will be canceled because they did not give the president of Peru permission to attend,” he said this morning.
Pedro Castillo did not obtain permission from legislators to travel to Mexico for the meeting where he was scheduled to receive the presidency of the alliance from López Obrador.
“It’s that I am the transitory or temporary president of that alliance and it is up to the president of Peru to receive the presidency, so if he does not come, who do I hand him over to?” the president commented.
Now the government will look for alternatives to carry out the delivery ceremony.
“We might do a meeting in Peruthat may be an option, to do it there but I have to consult, what I do not consider appropriate is to hold a meeting without the president being there, who should receive the courier, “the president stressed.
AMLO will receive the presidents of Chile, Costa Rica and Honduras
Although the alliance meeting does not take place, López Obrador will have bilateral meetings with the leaders of Chile, Costa Rica and Honduras.
“I am going to have bilateral meetings if the president of Chile or Costa Rica comes, the president of Honduras comes, but not necessarily this meeting of the Pacific Alliance,” he specified.
