AMLO: The US has already withdrawn the extradition request for “El Mayo” Zambada and Guzmán López

MEXICO CITY.- This Thursday, during his usual morning conference, the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorsaid that the United States government continues to fail to provide information to the Mexican government on the delivery and capture of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambadaand of Joaquin Guzman Lopezson of “El Chapo”, which occurred three weeks ago.

The head of the federal executive revealed that the United States has already requested the withdrawal of the extradition request it had for both drug traffickers.

The federal president stressed that the investigation into these events is already in the hands of the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR).

“No (we have received more information), the Attorney General’s Office is investigating and what we want is for them to present a report on how the investigation is going, and they have communication with the United States government, with the Department of Justice from the United States and now the case was attractedthe FGR already has it, it is no longer in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office or the Attorney General’s Office of Sinaloa“, said the president.

“I was also informed that the United States has already requested that the extradition proceedings not be continued, because they had a request for the extradition of Mr. Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López. So they are requesting that the request they previously made for extradition be cancelled,” he explained.

At the National Palace, the federal president pointed out that the United States authorities are already processing this matter.

“We will wait to see what the Attorney General’s Office says about the crimes committed in Mexico. They argue that since they have already been arrested in the United States, extradition is no longer necessary, which is logical.”

The head of the Executive said that the FGR’s resolution on the crimes that could have been committed in Mexico by “El Mayo” and by Joaquín Guzmán López must be awaited.

“We are still going to wait, and hopefully the Prosecutor’s Office will report as soon as possible,” he added.
