AMLO confirms that Ebrard will attend Isabel II’s funeral

President Andrew Manuel Lopez Obrador confirmed that he will be the head of Foreign Relations (SRE), Marcelo Ebrardwho attends the funeral from Queen isabel II on behalf of the Government of Mexico.

The foregoing was detailed in the morning conference at the National Palace, where López Obrador pointed out that condolences had already been sent following the death of Isabel II, in addition to wishing Carlos III success as the new British monarch.

“The Secretary of Foreign Relations will be representing the Government of Mexico. We have already sent our condolences and in due course we will send our acceptance and wish for success to the new head of state, the king (Carlos III), when appropriate, but I understand that the funerals are first and the process will take time for the coronation,” he said.

“We have already received the invitation to attend the funeral of the queen (Elizabeth II), and I have decided that the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, will represent us,” he said.

The state funeral for the late Queen Elizabeth II will be next September 19th at 11:00 local time in the westminster abbey in London, announced the end of the week following Buckingham Palace.

That date, Monday, will be a holiday throughout the United Kingdom, as the new monarch, Carlos III, authorized in one of his first orders.

The presence of important world leaders, including the president of the United States, Joe Biden, and representatives of royal houses are expected at the funeral for Elizabeth II, who died last Thursday at Balmoral Castle, Scotland, at the age of 96. old.

Before the funeral, there will be a four-day funeral in Westminster Hall, the oldest building in the Parliament complex, where British citizens can come to pay their respects.
