President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed that Marcelo Ebrard will attend the Summit of the Americas on behalf of the Government of Mexico, in the event that the United States decides not invite all the countries of the continent to the event that will take place from June 6 to 10 in Los Angeles, California.

During the morning press conference on Monday, the president indicated that he is still waiting for a official response of the US government to its proposal not to exclude anyone. This, even though Kevin O’Reillycoordinator of the event, stated last week that “under any concept” Neither Nicaragua nor Venezuela will be invited to the Summit.

“We are waiting for a response. We understand that the president (Joe) Biden is busy and worried regarding what happened in Texas, the murder of children and young people and that has him busy. I think that due to this circumstance might not give us an answer”, AMLO said from the National Palace.

“It’s very clear. If all countries are invited, I will attend the Summit. If not all countries are invited, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard, will attend on behalf of the government.”, he sentenced.

In this context, the head of the Executive assured that still have time to receive a official response from the United States and that might even wait until next week.

No hurryfortunately it is here with our countrymen, friends, neighbors of Los Angeles, is to get to Tijuana and 2 hours by road or direct. If it went further we would have to prepare more, but no, if it’s resolved, let’s go”, López Obrador mentioned.

There’s time and we trust him (Joe Biden) and we are going to wait,” he added.
