AMLO asks Claudia Sheinbaum to promote the delivery of scholarships

TLALTIZAPÁN DE ZAPATA, Morelos (El Universal).— President Andrés Manuel López Obrador acknowledged that his government “fell short” in providing scholarships for basic education students in the country.

While overseeing the Benito Juárez García Welfare Universities Program, accompanied by the virtual president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, the President stated that his government managed to provide scholarships to 13 million high school and college students.

“There are about 13 million students in Mexico who receive scholarships, something that has never been seen in the country. In any case, we are falling short in basic education, preschool, primary and secondary education,” said the Mexican president.

Before the heads of Education, Leticia Ramírez; the head of the Universities of Welfare program, Raquel Sosa; the virtual governor Margarita González; the constitutional governor Cuauhtémoc Blanco; the undersecretary of Expenditures Juan Pablo de Botton, the politician from Tabasco announced that in the next six-year term, support for public education students will be universal.

“So what is the President going to do now, which is extraordinary, since we are falling short in preschool, primary and secondary education, she is going to make this educational level a reality, she is going to give scholarships to all public education students,” he said.

“Nothing left to fear”

To his supporters, López Obrador said that there is nothing to fear because with Sheinbaum there is a guarantee that there will be continuity in the transformation.

“We will continue to serve everyone, listen to everyone, respect everyone, but we will give priority to the humble people, for the good of all, the poor first. This is expressed in the fact that all the Welfare programs will continue,” he said.

López Obrador said that they spent the night with the virtual president-elect in El Rollo, and today they visited the municipal beach where they took photos with the bathers. “I told them, things may go badly for you and sometimes you get sad, but you know what? You live in paradise. It’s beautiful, what happens is that you’ve already gotten used to it.”

“Humanist” Promise

Claudia Sheinbaum assured that her government will ensure “a humanistic education.”

Much to fight for

In addition to fighting corruption and privileges in public education, the virtual president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum assured that this will be “humanist.” “We will continue to defend and strengthen the rights of the people of Mexico, access to education, access to health and everything that rights mean,” said Claudia. “It will be free, humanist, scientific education, which is the essence of the fourth transformation,” concluded the next president of Mexico.
