Amiram Ben Oliel will move from solitary confinement in a security prison facility to the Torani wing

In the coming days, the Shin Bet decided to transfer Amiram Ben Oliel, who was convicted of murdering members of the Dawabsha family in the village of Duma in 2015, from a security prison facility – to the Torani wing.

According to a report by Amit Segal, the move was initiated by the Shin Bet and was implemented following the combination of rabbis in the national religious sector, led by Rabbi Yaakov Medan, Rabbi Menachem Burstein and officials on behalf of Rabbi Dov Lior, and officials in the Jewish division of the Shin Bet.

Segal pointed out that the Shin Bet’s decision to transfer him to the military wing stems from humanitarian considerations.

The move was preceded by a number of actions carried out by the Shin Bet and the Shin Bet in recent months, to check the suitability of Ben Oliel’s condition for such a transition – including an experimental and gradual transition to the Torah wing on Saturdays and holidays, when last Passover and during the Tishrei holidays last year Ben Oliel was transferred from solitary confinement to the Torah wing.

The headquarters of Tzedek Laamiram recently claimed that his condition had deteriorated after he was transferred from solitary confinement in Eshel prison to solitary confinement in the guarded wing of Ayalon prison.

The headquarters stated that during his imprisonment in Eshel prison, Amiram was allowed to walk around the yard with another prisoner, and in Ayalon prison he is in complete isolation both in the cell and in the yard.

Also, the headquarters argued, the approval for rabbis’ visits to Amiram was stopped, so the number of people with whom he could be in contact was significantly reduced.
