At the same time as the Drew League in Los Angeles, the BIG3 League – 3×3 competition for veterans organized by Ice Cube – ended last night in Atlanta, leaving the title slipping away to the Trilogy team. Led by James White, Earl Clark and Amir Johnson, the merry troupe won the third trophy of their existence, and performed the first back-to-back in the history of the league. If you come across these guys on a field, a word of advice: don’t play the puffy game by offering them a 3×3.

Created by Ice Cube in 2017, the competition has since brought together veterans of the League who shortened their time at Tonton Silver, or simply players with a solid career who are still determined to burn the floor. The BIG3 League is also regarding changing squads: yes, it can also be understood that following an extra summer of basketball – all this happens between June and August – some of the players want to taste the tranquility of Malibu beaches. All that to say that Trilogy will only find its way to the throne in 2021, following a season as boss led by Jarrett Jack, a solid former NBA player. This year, history was written without him, but with James White, member of the roster of 2017 who has never left the group since its creation. Quite logical that we find the man in the role of captain therefore, assisted by Amir Johnson and Earl Clark. The group was coached by Stephen Jackson, who needs no introduction. Facing Glen Rice Jr’s Aliens, the Trilogy completed the trilogy at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta (lol) to complete the back-to-back… a first in the history of the BIG3 League. 51-35, final score since the first formation to reach 51 wins the match. The Trilogy is finally aptly named: three titles in five years, what kind of domination? James White and his family have once once more pulled out all the stops to triumph at the end of the summer. Even if the sun goes down earlier now, that won’t stop them from having a big party to celebrate.
