A woman who was bitten by a mosquito is being treated at the Agrini Hospital at Arapi beachwhich is located near Loutro Amfilochia.
The incident happened yesterday, Thursday 11/07/2024, during the midday hours in the shallow waters of this busy beach. The unfortunate bather injured his ankle by a sled hidden in the sand, she received help on the spot from another bather and was then immediately transported by her father to the Agrini Hospital where she is being treated.
According to witnesses, similar incidents have occurred both on Arapi beach and on neighboring beaches (Bouka, etc.) On this particular beach, which is usually chosen by families with small children from the surrounding area, there is no lifeguard or signs indicating to warn bathers of the danger of dangerous marine life.
The attention of bathers is drawn because the spines of the tail of the salahia, which are coated with toxic poison, if they hit vital organs, cause not only unbearable pain but even a heart attack.
