An incident occurred when an American YouTuber played a prank on a delivery driver whom he had never met and was shot by the delivery driver while filming his reaction. In this regard, the delivery driver was found not guilty on the grounds of self-defense.

According to the Associated Press and NBC News on the 29th (local time), the trial of delivery driver Alan Corley (31) was recently held in the Loudoun County Circuit Court in Virginia, USA, and the jury found him not guilty the day before.

Cawley is accused of shooting and injuring YouTuber Tenor Cook, 21, in the food court of a shopping center in Dulles, Virginia, on April 2.

In the released video, Cook approaches Collie, who was waiting to deliver food ordered at a food court, and repeatedly plays a sentence containing an insulting expression through a translation app. The embarrassed collie tries to walk away, saying “don’t do it,” but Cook utters a sentence by holding her smartphone close to Cook’s face.

In response, Collie took a step back, struck Cook’s smartphone away, and moved away, but Collie continued this behavior. As Cook continues to follow Collie, he eventually says, “Stop,” and pulls out a gun and shoots Cook. In the incident, Cook was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and Corley was arrested at the scene.

In this regard, Corley’s side claimed that the shooting was in self-defense. In his final argument the day before, Colley’s lawyer said, “At the time, Colley felt threatened by Cook, who was about 196 cm tall,” and added, “Cook confuses people to create content. “He continues to do this,” Cook said. According to reports, Cook held the smartphone about 15cm away from Corley’s face, and Corley told Cook to stop more than three times. Corley reportedly has a license to carry a weapon as there can be dangerous situations during his job.

In response, the prosecutor countered that it could not be considered self-defense, saying that Collie was not in a situation where he was about to suffer physical harm at the time. The prosecutor said: “Cook’s actions may be considered foolish and offensive. “But that was all,” he said. “How can we reasonably know that Collie was scared and at risk of bodily harm at the time?”

The jury found Cawley acted in self-defense. This is only permitted if there is reason to believe that the person is in serious physical danger. However, Cawley will remain in custody as he faces other charges, including shooting at a residence.

Meanwhile, Cook, who has about 56,000 subscribers, posts ‘prank content’ on his YouTube channel. On his channel, there are videos showing people trying to vomit in subways, shopping malls, and taxis, trying to smoke in stores, and making absurd demands to store clerks. In an interview with local media, Cook also said regarding this incident, “We will continue to create content like this.”
